Winter 2014

I think is safe to say that Spring has arrived. Nights can still get a little chilly but there are is no more snow or sub-zero temperatures in the forecast. Trees and shrubs are budding while daffodils and tulips are getting ready to bloom.

Now that the warm days are starting to melt away the cold days, lets take a look back at the images from this very cold and snowy winter. Please be patient as the video may take some time to download. Enjoy!

I've been to Fabyan Forest Preserve many times over the years but usually stay on the west side of the river near the windmill and lighthouse. Prior to its forest preserve designation, this area was actually a state named Riverbank. On the top of the hill on the east side of the property still stands the house. The house is notable as it was remodeled by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. There are a few other items on this property worth mentioning, mainly a bear cage (if you are going to have a large state, you need a bear) and Japanese gardens. Here are a few images taken after the second to last snowfall of the 2014 season.
